1. What successes did the labor movement score in the 1880's and 1890's?
- One success of the Labor Movement was the creation of the Labor Unions. The Knights of Labor and the American Federation of Labors were two distinguished unions that were created during this time. Another success took place in 1885, where men and women went on strike and won higher wages and shorter hours, these were two factors that were very important in the Labor Movement.
2. Why did the Thibodaux workers go on strike? Was the strike successful? What accounts for its success or lack of success?
- The Thibodaux workers went on a strike because they were not getting enough money to support themselves and their families. They wanted to raise their pay from $o.75 to $1. The strike was not successful, many had died, and hundreds were wounded. The martial law was put into affect on the strikers. The arrest of Henry and George Cox, the leader of the Knights of Labor Union made me think that the strike was not a success.
3. What were the demands of the Tennessee coal miners in 1891?
- The Tennessee Coal miners were asked to sign an iron-clad contract. This contract wanted the miners to never strike, to agree to get paid in script, and agreeing to give up the right to check the weight of the coal they mined; they were paid by the weight. The miners refused to sign this contract.
4. What was Frick's strategy to break the steel workers' union at the Homestead steel plant? Did the plan work? Provide evidence to support your answer
- Frick’s strategy to break the steel workers’ union at the Homestead steel plant was to build a fence around the steelworks and added barbed wires to the fence. There were peep holes for rifles. Frick would fire the workers if they did not accept the pay cut.
5. What were black workers reluctant to support the Pullman strike?
- The black workers were reluctant to support the Pullman strike because they were kept out of the strikes. This was testified by a vote of 112 to 100.

1. What successes did the labor movement score in the 1880's and 1890's?

The labor movment won shorter working hours and equal job oppurnities.

2. Why did the Thidodaux workers go on strike? Was the strike successful? What accounts for its success or lack of success?

The workers went on dtrike because they couldn't live on the wages that they had so far. To me, the strike was not succesful because many men died and were wounded.

3. What were the demands of the Tennessee coal miners in 1891?

They didnt wwant to sing the iron-clad contract because they were askeed to never strike and to stop checking the weight of the coal that htye have mined. They deisagreed because they were paid by the weight of the coal that they mined.

4. What was Frick's strategy to break the steel workers' union at the Homestead steel plant? Did the plan work? Provide evidence to support your answer

5. What were black workers reluctant to support the Pullman strike?

They were reluctant to the strikes because they never took part in it.
