- Mohan book 1890s
- fix economic problems
- Queen overthrown
- Clevland no to taking over sovereign nation

- 1895 revolt against spain (cube)
- spain's reaction is extreme

- American business disrupted
- all european expanding
- america wants to
- america has plenty of natural resources

Main ideas:
America saw Europe conquering land so they wanted to do the same. There' a chain reaction with Cuba's revolt. Spain take drastic, violent measures but this also hurts America's economy with their markets and trade.

I learned...
- G.B. dominate world power: 1890
- America look for another 'frontier'
- western hemisphere first
- 400 years under Spain ruling: Cuba
- brutal, unfair, but also disrupt America's markets
- America USS Maine sunk by Spain : Feb.
- 1901 McKinley was assasinated.

Main idea:
America wanted to expand like Great Britain. Events like the USS Maine being destroyed, annexing Hawaii, and Cuba's mistreatment caused tensions. America's markets suffer leading to depression as populism increases.
