APUSH HW Week of 1/16/17

Here are your assignments for the week of 1/16/17.   Please note that you, the student, are responsible for printing any worksheets related to the assignments given, and are responsible for handing in your work on time.   Late assignments, with the exception of a legally excused absence from school, will not be accepted.

MONDAY NIGHT: 
1.  Watch the two videos below. 
  

2. Complete the worksheet  that accompanies the videos.  


3. CLICK HERE FOR CHAPTER 19 of the AMSCO APUSH Textbook.  Read, and annotate, pp. 385-88 CLICK HERE FOR THE GRAP Packet.  Complete the section entitled, "The Growth of Discontent."     

TUESDAY NIGHT. 
1. CLICK HERE for the link to The American Pageant Ch. 23.  Using the chapter to help you, identify the key terms, and "people to know" on p.  563.  Bring the terms/people to know with you to class, on Wednesday.  

2.  CLICK HERE FOR CHAPTER 19 of the AMSCO APUSH Textbook.  Read, and annotate the rest of the chapter.   CLICK HERE FOR THE GRAP Packet.   Complete the rest of the GRAP packet (DUE THURSDAY).  

WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Finish the GRAP packet for THURSDAY.

1.  Watch and take notes on the following video.  Here is the slideshow to help you take notes.  Please bring your HANDWRITTEN notes with you to class, for TUESDAY's lesson! 


2.  CLICK HERE FOR CHAPTER 18 of the AMSCO APUSH Textbook.  Read, and annotate, pp. 360-364.  
3.  CLICK HERE FOR THE GRAP Packet.  Complete the introduction, and parts 1, and 2 of the GRAP (pp 1-3).  ***If you'd like a copy of the GRAP in a WORD format, click here***
Tuesday Night: 
1.  CLICK HERE for Chapter 25 of The American Pageant.   Using the chapter, identify the key terms, and people on p632.   Please bring these to class with you on Wednesday.  
2.  Read, and annotate pp. 365-367 in the AMSCO book.  Complete section 3 of the GRAP (page 3)

Wednesday Night: 
1.  Read, and annotate pp. 367-73 of the AMSCO text
2.  Complete sections 4 and 5 of the GRAP.  

Thursday: Finish the GRAP for FRIDAY

Friday Night: Due Tuesday 1/17/17

Reconstruction DBQ - Performance Assessment

2.  You have the entire period to complete the task, in the essay booklet.  Your task is as follows...
  1. Answer all of the DBQ questions.  Please answer in complete sentences, and indicate which document is which.  
  2. Complete an essay based on the essay prompt.

Today's Lesson 12/14/16 - Plans for Reconstruction

Hello, APUSH'ers.  Here is your mission for today.  You may use your class notes, your AMSCO text to help you, as well as any other resources at your disposal.

1. CLICK HERE for the Document packet which you will be reviewing today. 
2. Based on the number you were given, you will be assigned a particular character

  • All 1's - Northerners
  • All 2's - Former Confederates 
  • All 3's - Formerly enslaved African-Americans 
3.  Carefully, review the Reconstruction plans discussed in each document.  Please answer the scaffolding questions in the classwork section of your binder.  
4.  Copy and complete the chart on page 9 of the DBQ packet, providing a brief summary of each of the plans for Reconstruction.  Please answer the folllow-up question at the bottom of the chart, in which you will be evaluating which of the Reconstruction plans is best for your character.  
5. When you have finished steps 1-4, please complete the "They Say, I Say" exercise on p. 9 of the packet.  

You are expected to complete this assignment in 25 minutes.  Good Luck!

Today's Lesson 12/13/16 - The Legacy of the Civil War

Hello, All.

Here is your assignment for today, 12/13/16.  

1.  Carefully review the enclosed DOCUMENT PACKET.  Please answer all of the scaffolding questions that accompany each document, in the classwork section of your notebook.   You will have a 25 minute time cap on this part of the assignment.

2. Once you have completed the document packet, using the documents, as well as your knowledge of US History, construct a brief composition in which you answer the following question:

  • Should Southern states be allowed to fly the Confederate flag, today?  
In constructing your answer, and backing up your claim, please make sure you: 
  • included varied kinds of evidence such as facts, quotations, examples, and definitions. 
  • analyzed or explained the reasons and evidence, showing how they fit with your claim(s) and built your argument
  • wrote about another possible position or positions—a different claim or claims about this subject—and explained why the evidence for your position outweighed the counterclaim(s).

Hello, APUSH'ers:

Here are your assignments for today.  

1.  If you and your team-mates haven't finished the Station Assignment.  Please finish that, TODAY.   Ideally, BEOP.  You must also do the following.  

1. Share your group's file with me, via google docs, using my email address, michael.tesler@wjps.org. 

2.  One person in the group will print ONE copy of the file, and give it to me, tomorrow.  Please make sure that all team members' names are on the file.  

IF YOUR TEAM IS DONE WITH THE STATION ASSIGNMENT.  

1.  Complete the DBQ, "What Caused Secession?" 
2.  Please hand-write your answers, and turn it in,  BEOP.  
3.  If you're feeling SPICY and want EXTRA CREDIT, complete a FIVE PARAGRAPH essay, that discusses, what caused secession.

HW Assignments Week of 12/5/16

Here are your HW assignments for the week of 12/5/16. Please note that you, the student, are responsible for printing out any worksheets related to the assignments given, and are also responsible for handing in your work on time.  Late assignments, with the exception of a legal absence from school will not be accepted.


PLEASE PACE YOURSELF!!! Do not wait until the last minute to complete assignments.  Also, do not try to cram everything in, so you won't have anything to do the rest of the week.  Reading, and annotating 4 pages per night will be more than adequate.

MONDAY NIGHT:

1. Watch and Take Notes on the following videos.  Notes are handwritten, and must be handed in, with your GRAP.   Here is a link to the notes for the first video.

1.  Print out a copy of the Civil War Station Assignment (HAND IN WEDNESDAY!) 
2.  Read pp.  271-276 of the AMSCO Text (DON'T FORGET TO ANNOTATE!)  
3.  Complete pp. 3 and 4 of the GRAP.  

WEDNESDAY NIGHT.  
1.  Read pp. 277-282 of the Amsco Text.  
2.  Complete the remainder of the Chapter 14 GRAP for FRIDAY.

THURSDAY NIGHT:  

1. Finish the GRAP for Chapter 14.  
2. Complete the Planning Page for your Thematic Essay on the Civil War.   You will write the essay in class on Friday.  

FRIDAY: 
Watch the video, "America The Story of US: Civil War" 

Take notes on the video.  Complete the attached study guide.   You must turn in the notes as well as the study guide.
