2012 Winter Break Assignment

Hello, APUSH'ers:

Listed below, are the resources, and the requirements for your winter break assignment.  I've done the best I can to make the assignment as "painless" as possible.  In addition to the assignment, I've also set up some opportunities for you to gain some extra credit.  The extra credit assignments are optional; it's your option to further your knowledge of US History on your own.   There will be separate links to those assignments .

So, What do I have to do?

OK.  There are two packets, which you are responsible for completing.  When we return from the Winter Break, we're going to use the information in these packets to create review posters (a.k.a. "Pretty Posters".  More details when we get back).

Here are the two packets.  I'd suggest strongly working with a study group, to divide the labor.

Packet #1 - Key Questions 1700-1825
Packet #2 - Key Questions 1826-1876 - through Question 13

To help you complete the questions in the packets, I've enclosed a link to a listing of one-page-outlines (OPO'S).  CLICK HERE FOR THE LINK.   Packets 1-12 will be very helpful for you! Don't worry!  They're very short (only ONE page).

Here's some other great resources to help you!  Please note that you do not have to use all of the resources.  They are there to help you if you need them!

HW Assignments Week of 12/10

Hello, APUSH'ers:

Here are your HW assignments for the week of 12/3.  As a reminder, Homework:

  1. Is assigned ever night, unless stated otherwise
  2. Must be completed by the next class meeting, unless stated otherwise
  3. Requires a parent's signature in order to receive full credit.
  4. Is essential to your learning, and for your mastery of this course!
Starting this week, we will be working out of the AMSCO review book, in an effort to facilitate our understanding of the material we've been covering in class.  We'll also be doing some more of the lectures from the Hippocampus site.  The idea is to "flip" the classroom.  Treat the lectures, and presentations as if we were doing them in class.  Simply highlighting text won't cut it!  You will retain more information if you actually outline, and annotate; your scores will be considerably higher, too!

Monday Night -
1. Read pp. 121-125 in the Review Book
2. Listen to Lecture "Jefferson As President."  Listen, and take notes on "The Louisiana Purchase," and "Lewis and Clark." Click the link above to access the lecture.
3. Review Slides 24-32 of "Forging the New Republic." Treat it as if it were a lecture during class.  In other words, take notes at home, in your class notes section
