  1. What were the main problems faced by women in mid-19c America?
  2. What was the "Cult of Domesticity?"  How was it connected to the role of women in American reform movements during the early 19c?

  1. Explain how the election of 1824 signaled the end of the "Era of Good Feelings."  Why was it called the "Corrupt Bargain?"
  2. Describe the personal background of Andrew Jackson.  Which aspects of that background would be most appealing to Americans of the early 19c?
  3. If you were a U. S. citizen voting in the 1828 presidential election, for whom would you cast your ballot--John Quincy Adams or Andrew Jackson?  Explain your choice. 
  4. What was the spoils system?  Why did Jackson initiate it at the beginning of his first term?
