New England and the Chesapeake Colonies attracted different settlers, which caused the colonies to differ greatly. The population of New England was mostly of English descent. Most people living in New England seeked religious freedom, so Puritans, Quakers, Jews, and Catholics made up the vast majority of New England's population. The people of New England were very devoted to their religious beliefs. Also, many people living in New England had large families, especially in Massachusetts, where women bore 8 or more children. The population of the Chesapeake colonies consisted mostly of slaves, indentured servants, and wealthy nobles. Religion in the Chesapeake Colonies was not taken as seriously as it was taken in New England. The main religion that was practiced in the Chesapeake Colones was the Anglican religion, which people were not very faithful to. Slaves did not participate in the Anglican religion.
The economy basics of New England and the Cheapeake Colonies was different, as well. New England's economy was based upon ship-building, trade, fishing, and the minority of New England's economy was based on farming. The economy of the Chesapeake Colonies evolved mostly around Tobacco, which helped to make huge profits for Virginia.

New England colonies prospered more than Chesapeake colonies have because of their majority of the population. In New England the population consisted of both men and women almost equally. But Chesapeake colonies had more men than women. Economically, New England made profits off of building ships, trading and mostly things having to do with the ocean. Whereas Chesapeake colonies focused on farming such as tobacco, etc. From a political view, Chesapeake colonies had more problems than New England's did. It can be that New England had a lot of faith and hope from their religion and worked very hard to live well. However, Chesapeake colonists merely cared about religion and focused on making money or finding gold. Virginia could not defend its own colonies from the Dutch because of irregulation. New England seemed more regulated and prosperous compared to Chesapeake colonies which were unbalanced.

New England and the Chesapeake Colonies had many differences more than alikes. The Chesapeake region is made up of Virginia, Maryland, New Jeresy, and Pennsylania while the New England region was made up of Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Plymouth. Religion differed greatly. The population of New England were extremely religious and left their country in search of religious freedom. The Chesapeake Colonies isn't created with settlers that were religious. The New England believed and worked that all people should work together or work enough for food. The farms are smaller and contain only enough food for the family, fishing, and shipbuilding. The Chesapeake colonies survive by many slaves for large plantations growing tabacco and others. The New England colonies settled in families while the Chesapeake colonies is created by a large population of young men and very few women. The Chesapeake colonies also contained a lot of indentured servants and slaves. Because of New England's beliefs, it effects economically, socially, politically and their population. Their way to survive in the Chesapeake colonies is planting tobacco therefore slavery is needed. This effects economically, socially, politically, and their population as well.
