Hello, APUSHers:

I apologize for the typo...Due to an error in coding, the link for the questions did not appear on the post. That being said, you will be given the extra time to "take care of business."

Firstly, for the weekend assignment blog, I should have told you to follow the link for LESSON 9 - The French and Indian War. Sorry about that.

OK...Here's the link for the assignment.

JOIN OR DIE

In addition, please CLICK HERE. Print this out, and put it in your TEST PREP section. As an incentive, I'll come around and check Tuesday. If you've got it, you'll get a point on your average at the end of the semester.

Do we have to answer the questions based on the "Join or Die" picture or the Proclamation of 1763?

OK, here is my homwork for the Join or Die poster thingy...

1) AUTHOR= Benjamin Franklin created the poster. I know that Ben Franklin wanted to unite alll of the colonies, as the Albany Plan of Union was his idea. He wanted freedom from the British for the colonies.

2) PLACE AND TIME= This cartoon was produced in 1754 (ironically, May 9th, the day we have to take the A.P test and battle the question troll.)During this time, the British still ruled the colonies, but this was also about the time when the French and Indian was just getting started.

3) PRIOR KNOWLEDGE= First of all, i can tell that the parts of the snake represent all of the colonies. I also know from prior knowledge that during that time, people used to believe a myth that if you cut up a snake, it could come back to life if it was assembled by sunset. I assume that it is a snake for that reason, that all of the colonies should come together and assemble.

4) AUDIENCE= The cartoon was for the colonies. It was made to tell them to become part of their alliance. The message "Join or Die" tells the colonies that if they do not join together to create an alliance, the British will be in control. They mean that they are not powerful unless they are all joined together. Little bits of a snake are pointless, but a whole one is dangerous and powerful. In unity there is strength.

5) REASON= This cartoon was produced at that time because it was actually meant to tell the colonies to unite against the Indians during their attacks (this was about the time of the French and Indian war). However, later on this became a revolutionary symbol.

6) THE MAIN IDEA= The cartoon is trying to show that unity is a necessity amoung the colonies. It shows the colonies that apart, they are weak, but together they are strong.

7) SIGNIFICANCE= This is important because it shows early signs of unity amoung the colonies, even before the revolution. I can conclude that early on the colonies realized that they needed to form a unified group if they were going to survive. This is signicant because it was the first sign that the colonies showed of unification.

THE END THE END THE END NO MORE!

HERE IS MY HOMEWORK!

1.author- Benjamin Franklin created the Join or Die poster since he wanted to unite all the colonies into one to gain independence from Britain and attempted to do so by creating the Albany Plan of Union.

2.place an time- The join or die poster was created on May 9, 1754. In that time period, the colonies were still under the rule of Britain and also the beginning of the French and Indian War which would make colonies soon realize they could actually be on their own without Britain's help.

3.prior knowledge- While analyzing the Join or Die poster, I could tell that the snake broken down into pieces represented each of the 13 colonies and that the colonies had to unite together to form one.

4.audience- The poster was created by Franklin for the colonies to get the message across that the colonies need to come together as one in order to gain freedom from Britain. If the colonies all come together, they can be more powerful than Britain than being weak if being apart.

5.reason- The poster was created at first around the time of the french and indian war that needed to unite together against the Indians attacks but then later the symbol became a meaning of uniting the colonies to create a revolution against the Britain.

6.main idea- The poster is showing that unless the colonies come together as one, they will be weak and not become powerful enough to gain freedom from Britain. This poster is showing the importance of the colonies coming together to unite as one.

7.significance- This poster is definitley important because it marked the beginning of the colonies becoming more dependent with themselves and not with their mother country which would eventually lead us to the American Revolution. Also, slowly the colonies soon realized that thy did need to unite all the colonies together as one group in order to succeed in their independence from British. The poster was the first sign ever that colonies showed unity and independence from britain. This was very important if the colonies wanted to be free from the ruling of England!!

Here is my homework:

1. Author- The author of this document is Benjamin Franklin. He wanted to bring the colonies all together as one. He was looking for freedom from the british.

2. Place and time- The cartoon was made in 1754. During the time, british was still in control of the colonies.

3. Prior Knowledge- These parts of the snake represent the colonies that were at the meeting. I also believe that the reason why they chose a snake is because it is a symbol of power.

4. Audience- This cartoon was made for the colonies to become one. The message was very simple, Join or Die. A broken snake is dead, but a full snake is alive and powerful.

5. Reason- This cartoon was to tell the colonies to unite and fight if needed.

6. The main idea- The main idea of the cartoon is to show the colonies that united colonies were needed. Without colonies being united, they are week, but together they are strong.

7. Significance- This document it important because it shows early independence of the colonies from the English.

1) AUTHOR= Benjamin Franklin created the poster.HE wanted to unite the colonies using the albany plan of union.

2) PLACE AND TIME= This cartoon was made in 1754. at the time, Britain was still in control of the colonies still ruled the colonies.

3) PRIOR KNOWLEDGE= i know that in the Albany plan of union, there was to be a unification [if thats a word haah] of the colonies.

4) AUDIENCE= The cartoon was directed towards the colonies that werent ready to ally with the others. "Join or Die" tells the colonies that if they do not join together to create an alliance, the British will be in control. Strangth is in numbers, and thats the message that this cartoon is trying to portray.

5) REASON= the cartoon might have been made to intrigue other colonies into joining the alliance.

6) THE MAIN IDEA= that Unity is necessary, or else the colonies will suffer.

7) SIGNIFICANCE= it showed that the colonies were trying to unify and with this they could later gain idependence from britain and become their own nation

Are you serious, It's like 10:24 right now and I did the questions on proclamations of 1763....
Anyways, here's my homework.

1)Author= Benjamin Franklin created the advertisement to make colonists join. He wanted the colonists to join to defend the colonies and pay more taxes. What I know about Benjamin Franklin is that he was a president and provided much effort into the American Revolution. The unison was basically called the Albany Plan of Union.

2)Place and Time= The poster was made on May 9th of 1754 in the America. The time this poster created wouldn't really matter because it wouldn't have turned out great because of the tax raises anyways.

3)Prior Knowledge= I definitely know that the 13 sliced snake parts represent the 13 colonies. I can tell from the poster that Benjamin Franklin wants to convey the idea that if the 13 colonies unite, they can be vicious enough to defend their country or colonies.

4)Audiences= The poster was made for the colonists to see and recognize what needs to happen. This was reliable to the colonists because they were quiet aware of the events that might happen between the French and the British. They were reliable to the poster because they knew that they need to protect their land from the invasion of French.

5)Reason= This poster was produced by Benjamin Franklin because he thought that the colonies need to unite and defend their colonies. He also thought that raising taxes was one of the neccessity because they needed to fund the millitary for their defence.

6)The Main Idea= The poster is conveying the idea that symbolizes unity. The poster is basically saying no matter who or what the adversary may be if they unite, they can fend the forces off.

7)Significance= The significance of this poster is very inferable. It shows the effort of Benjamin Franklin to try and unite the colonies. Because they have never had the chance to unite and never tried either. This shows devoutedness of Benjamin Franklin to the colonies and later contribution to the American Revolution.

1. The creator of the poster is Benjamin Franklin. I know that Benjamin wants the best for the colonies which is independence from the morther country. I also know that he is extremely smart and intelligent. He thought of the Albany Plan of Union.

2. This poster was created on May 9, 1754, is when the french and indian was starting. This effects it because Benjamin Frankilin wanted to encourage all the colonies to form an assembly together.

3. Well, something I would realize is that the poster is a snake that is cut up. Cut up into parts that symbolizes all the colonies and describes how the colonies weren't working together.

4. This poster was made for all the colonists, persuading and informing them about what's happening and what should happen between the colonies. This probably attracted a lot of the colonists. The snake is a symbol of power, explaining that if a snake is in pieces, it's not strong but if the pieces are one, then the snake is very powerful.

5. Leaning towards the french and indian war, the colonies started wanted independence from the Britian. If the they join together as a union, then, they will have enough power to recieve what they want. This poster explain this clearly.

6. This poster explains the colonies statis in the beginning of the French and Indian war. This shows how all the colonies are broken up as a snake. If they join together, then they would obtain power like if a snake was whole.

7. This is very important and had a big affection during the American Revolvution. This later made the colonies work together and they gained freedom and independence they wanted.

THE END.
