Thomas Jefferson was very justified in purchasing the Louisiana purchase. Although many Federalists and American citizens opposed the trade because they thought it was unconstitutional, and it was like paying to be in a war with Spain. But Thomas Jefferson didn't intend to cause any trouble with foreign countries because he was very neutral. He only wanted to expand U.S. territory to benefit the country. Thomas Jefferson also stated that if the expansion of the territory is meant for the good cause in America, it wouldn't be a problem. He was very justified and had good reasons to be able to purchase Louisiana. But I can say that although he WAS justified, his actions were basically a mistake because the western expansion actually caused many further problems that might not have happened without the Louisiana Purchase.

Thomas Jefferson justified in authorizing the purchase of Louisana from France in 1803 because he was the president of the United States, so he could do anything that benifited the government. Some people diagreed becasue they thought it was unconstitutional but to Jefferson, it was an exception in order to make the trade.

I think that Tohmas Jefferson was justified in purchasing the Louisiana Territory they were offered. The only reason anybody opposed to this action was because they thought of it to be unconstitutional. Even though, he did not have the rights to do that, the constitution is mainly so that the federal government does not have too much power and they have to follow a system of Checks and Balances. By him making this purchase, he was not overpowering, he was just trying to make the decision which he thought would be best for the country, and that's what the president should do. I can see why he was not justified in his purchase, but I think he was more justified than not.

I think Thomas Jefferson was definitely justified in purchasing the Louisiana purchase. First off, as Opal said, Jefferson was the president of the United States at that time. He basically could do anything he wanted to, as long as he thought it would be beneficial. Thomas Jefferson thought it was a good way to make trade. However, many federalists thought this concept was unconstitiutional.

i think that thomas jefferson was justified in purchasing Louisiana. Even though the constitution did not state that he had the right to purchase territory, jefferson bought the territory for the benefit of the people. He doubled the size of US and welcomed the rich lands to the people. So he really did not do anything wrong. He has a reasonable argument to back his reason why he purchased it. Poeple who opposed it thought that it was unconstitutional and feared that the gov will have more power, but the consitituion portects peoples rights and makes sure that the gov doesnt over power themselves, which is a system called checks and balances. I can also see why jefferson want justified in this action, but i agree with rosemarie, i feel like he was more justified than not. I mean, he did it for the benefit for the people, not so that he can make his own castle in louisianna. he made the purchase for the benefit on the country and people, and it was a good thing since it would increase america economy. if he didnt buy it, us economy would go downhill. so he made the right decision to protect the people.

I believe that Thomas Jefferson was justified in buying the Louisiana purchase. With this purchase, he changed the size of the United States. The federalists people apposed the trade because they felt that it was unconstitutional. Jefferson knew that he could do what ever he wanted because he is the president of the U.S. So yes, I agree with Jenna and Opal.

Thomas Jefferson was justified in authorizing the purchase of Louisiana from France in 1803. When, Thomas Jefferson was offered this purchase, he didn't have much time to tink about it. 15 million dollars for 828,000 miles worth of land. Although, this wasn't EXACTLY written clearly on the constitution, his movement was to double America's land and allowed America to grow bigger. This expanded America's land and the movement only did good the Americans. Also, this purchase was a bargain and many Americans were excited about this purchase. His choice was so helped the Americans and clearly he felt, this would. I agree with Monica that if Thomas didn't purchase this piece of land, there will be no profits in America. The Louisiana Purchase allowed Americans to have more room for settlement and plantations for export.

I believe that Thomas Jefferson was justified in purchasing the territory of Louisiana from France in 1803. Although many people disagreed with his decision due to their belief that it was unconstitutional, he chose to do so because he believed that it would benefit the U.S. Like Jenna said, he was the president at the time, it was his decision and he believed it would help the people.

I also agree with Jenna and Opal, becuase he was the president and he could do anything he wanted to make the country better.
