I was surprised when i learned that Donald Trump was the new president of the United States. Trump means the beginning of a mini revolution. The 2016 election has taught me that people have different views on candidates .The reason why is because I was surprised when Trump won as president. Trump will bring the country together and rebuild the nation.

I was very surprised. this is because he wasn't a good person and his past was bad.

Trump victory means that he is the next president and he could do what ever he wants to this country. the whole border
issue he is not going to proactively act to in the correct attitude. He also wants to get rid of common core which is really good for students.

People will not come together because many people did not want him as president but now he is. Trump can heal the wounds of division by telling people he is actually not bad and his past is his past and that he will actually do America good. Our government leaders can try to change his mind if he wants too do something not smart and bad. We can stop him from doing anything that will hurt our country.

— What has Election 2016 taught you about America? Why? What questions has it raised for you?
This election has taught me that there are 318.9 million people in America and these are the best two people we could get for
president.I have too many questions for trump about our new life for the next 4 years.

When Donald Trump was elected as president i was really angry, but I wasn't really surprised. I think people would rather vote for anyone -including Trump- instead of a female candidate. This 'victory' will ruin the lives of many people. When reviewing his policies, it was clear that he did not care for the well being of any minority groups. He openly showed his racist beliefs regarding to immigrants, mocked disabled people, didn't support the LGBT community, and even bragged about rape allegations. With his promise to appoint conservative supreme court justices, he even made statements regarding the repeal of the marriage equality ruling last year. This will actually affect me directly, as well as millions of other Americans. I honestly do not believe that America can come together in the face of this election *tragedy* because half of the nation voted for him in the first place. If this happened in the first place, I don't think that they will support the people affected by his policies. All we can do at this point is support other people and help those affected by his campaign. This election has showed me that for a nation of people that talk about equality and freedom so much, they don't really care about any of those things.

1. I felt impartial, but not at all surprise. I hadn't taken a liking to either candidate, but I accepted that despite what many sources said, Donald Trump always had a good chance. Once he was winning in North Carolina, Florida, and Pennsylvania. I accepted the fact Trump would take the race, and was thus not surprised when he did in fact win.

2. What this Trump victory means for America is that it will take a more conservative and even isolated stance on domestic and foreign affairs. It will have an effect on certain issues, such as immigration, which will undoubtably will be scaled back as well as having certain groups possibly being denied immigration to the United States, such as muslims. On another subject, same sex marriage, Trump has stated he wishes for the decision to fall on the states, which has a possibility of happening if more conservatives are appointed to the Supreme Court by Trump, who can then overturn the former decision of the Supreme Court that made legal same sex marriage nationwide. This will mean it will most likely fall upon the states once again, with the conservative states undoubtably making it not legal.

3. I believe once the paranoia and hysteria and the presidential campaign settles down and after a few months into Trumps term, the "wounds of division" will become lesser. However, these might not go away entirely if the Trump administration cannot portray itself as calm and level headed and cannot act immediately on some of their promises. If they achieve these goals, then these divisions will most likely disappear for the foreseeable future.

4. The 2016 election taught me that if America sees the current administration as old and no longer effective, then they will look for outsiders and nonconformists to change the way of the government, as seen in the election of Donald Trump. Very few questions came to me, for the only one that arose for me was if the Trump administration can build a public image of calmness and level headiness all the while enacting their many wanted reforms and policies.

1. When I learned that Donald Trump was elected as the next President of the United States, I felt surprised and angry. I did not expect Trump to win, seeing that Hillary had a lead in most of the polls before the election.

2. Trump's victory means a bad future for the next 4 years. The stock market may crash, seeing how Trump doesn't know how to manage money. The one good thing Trump will do is get rid of common core.

3. Trump can't bring this country together. Many Trump supporters and maybe even Trump himself are racist. Why would they have any idea of bringing a nation together when they want to keep people of other backgrounds out?

4. This election has taught me that many Americans have diverse opinions and the election can be unpredictable.

1: When Trump was elected President I was surprised and conflicted. He was the person, we as the people, chose to represent our country.
2: Trump's victory will negatively affect the people of my race and myself personally. However, for Trump there are many things he says about education I agree with. For example, getting rid of common core.
3: I do not believe Trump will be able to unite the people after this election. If he can not help us unite as a country with different races, genders, and sexualities, how would he be able to unite people who disagree about our political leader? In the end, American citizens are the ones who choose America's future so I believe we should be able to get along with each other and not let the President divide us.
4: This election has taught me that the people of America would choose such a man to represent the whole of our country. I thought people would want the better for ALL people, not just a specific group. Now, I wonder how different millennials think compared to the people who can vote now.

1- When I learned the results, I was very surprised. I thought Clinton was going to win, being that she made herself very confident. For example, laughing at debates and planning victory fireworks were ways in which led me to believe she would win. However, being a Trump supporter, I was very content and surprised with the results.

2-I think a Trump victory will impact us all in new and positive ways. Being that we haven’t had a republican president since Bush, I think Trump’s new inputs will create a change to the normal democratic ways of ruling the nation. In such, Trump can help us unite, and create new opportunities, like removing Obama care. I care alot about terrorism, and Trump has plan to get on top of it, so that is a way in which he can help the things I care about.

3- I feel the country will come together after this major division because there isn’t anything they can do to change the winner. Just as Obama supporters wanted Republicans to give him a chance, the rest of the nation must learn to cope with our President. After all, Trump swept all of the “battleground” states. Therefore this shows that many states are in favor of him. This isn’t nearly as terrible of the attacks of 9-11, so if America can stay strong and unite from that, we sure can unite to support our president. To heal the wounds of division, as Americans, we can open up to Trump and give him a chance. Trump himself can rule in a way in which meets everyone’s needs, and benefits what everyone wants. The government should be supportive of both the president and the people.

4- The 2016 election has taught me that America is very controversial and opinionated. This was a close election, and the predictions changed throughout the night, therefore it shows that anything could've happened. To me, this raises wonders of “Whys.” Why didn’t Clinton come out and talk to her supporters? Why were they told to leave, rather than be there to support her?

From watching the election I really was surprised that now to hear that Donald Trump was elected the new president of USA. This can mean many things for america. One a possible new start for america or the start to a fallen America. But I think that this possibly can be the start if a new future. Yeah there is still chance that the nation may come together as one after him being elected. Trump can do many things to heal the "Wounds of division". Everyone can do many things to help and so can Trump. The election has taught me a lot of things like the views and the perspective of each candidates.

1) I felt a little angry but either way I wouldn't be happy with who president because I don't like either of them. I personally believe Jill Stein should've won even if there's no chance since Trump and Clinton are the main people running.
2) Trump's victory just means he's going to be the 45th president of The US and I guarantee he will make many changes whether it's negative or positive. The issue that I care about the most it environmental issues, which he doesn't care about.
3) Honestly no, I don't think we are going to be as united because he is very racist and sexist which can cause problems between people and their thoughts. Things he can do is apologize for all the racism comments and actually make America great again.
4) Te election 2016 taught me that anyone can run for president because Trump has no background in politics whatsoever. I would always question if he knew what he was doing or if he's qualified.

I felt happy and relief. I wanted to have a president that is not a criminal . If Hillary Clinton won, she would go down as the first female president in US history. However, in my opinion, she doesn't deserve it. I feel like Donald Trump would make a good president, and I don't care what other people think about me. I am not racist and have nothing against the people Trump may "criticize" I am proud to say that I do support Trump along with my family, therefore I am happy and surprised. I honestly thought that Clinton would be president because of the many liberal states and Trump having no political experience. But that does't matter. When I checked every so often on the electoral votes for each candidate, Trump was winning more and more states. I am excited to see how Trump would change the country.
I think that a Trump victory means having a president that will influence the country in a positive way, and not having a criminal. Victory is defined as winning and Donald J Trump reached 270 electoral votes and proudly deserves to be president of the United States.
There are many issues that are going on in the United States especially racial. I feel like the country may come together as one, hopefully during Trump's presidency. I feel that Trump may heal the "wounds of division" by his words and his ways. Trump is a very successful business man so he his capable of doing anything. Therefore, faith may heal the wounds of division.
The election of 2016 thought me that American people have different views and ways that would benefit the country. I was six years old when Obama was elected president for his first term and ten at the second. As a little kid, I didn't really understand the election process. Now at 14 years old and it being the election of 2016, I now understand that each state has electoral votes and that you need 270 to become president. .

1. When I found out that Donald Trump won presidency, I was very surprised and happy. I was pretty sure that Hillary Clinton was going to win, and I wasn't very happy. When Trump won, me, along with my family members, were very happy.
2. A Trump victory means that Trump will try his hardest to make our country less damaged. Trump's victory will mean that Trump will try to get rid of Common Core, and that makes me very happy.
3. I am not very sure that America will come together after this election. Many people were against Trump and were very upset when he won the presidency. I feel it will take a very long time for everyone will come together, but I believe Trump will get it done. To heal the wounds of division, Trump can fix relations within the country and treat people with equal rights no matter the background or religion. Our government can fix any potential mistakes made by Trump. We, the people of the United States, can listen to Trump and follow the correct path he will hopefully present us with
4. The election has taught me that this country can be very divided when it comes to presidency. Many different people got into huge conflict and arguments about the two primary candidates, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Questions that arise within my mind is will Trump fix America's issues? Will the people come together as one like Donald Trump says? We will find out in the upcoming years.

1) I was very surprised when Trump won and filled with disbelief. At first, it looked like Hilary would win, so waking up to hear that Trump won definitely did not make my morning.Other than feelings of anger, I am scared for the future of our country.

2) A trump "victory" will influence the nation in a negative way. America is suppose to be moving forward, and this will only set us back. This country is suppose to be united and not discriminate against gender, sexuality, race, and more. Having trump as president will effect groups of people, and they will not feel safe. A president is suppose to be a role model, but Trump is far from it. I care strongly about equality for everyone and moving progressively as a nation. In my opinion, Trump will not affect this issues in a positive way.

3) This country will be divided after this election. Though, we will find a way in the end to come together. Many types of different people have different opinions. Trump needs to actually learn how to stand for all, and not just one specific group of people. All of us need to look out for each other, and work to positively impact this nation.

4) Election 2016 has taught me how America is not moving forward. How can we go from having the first African American President to Donald Trump? This election shows how many people are racist, sexist, homophobic and more. In the next election, our generation needs to do more research and fight stronger to determine an election like this never happens today.

I was pretty surprised when Donald Trump won. Like I thought he had no chance of winning from what the polls were saying. The main thing I felt was angry and sad. I believe that he is not fit for the job in today's world. He is a bigot, racist, homophobic, islamophobic, and sexist, and all in all just not right to run the country. He says he supports women's rights but he is pro-life, he says he is pro lgbt, but his running mate is the biggest opponent to the lgbt community, and all in just not somebody who will “Make America Great Again.” This whole election has taught me many things about America, the major thing being that the system has to change.

— How did you feel when you learned the results? Were you surprised? Excited? Angry? I felt surprised because I wasn't expecting that Donald Trump was going to win. I had hopes that he will win but other people doubted. I was shocked to see that Trump won.

— What does a Trump victory mean, for you and your community and for America? What effects will a Trump victory have on issues you care about? A Trump victory to me isn't that important to me. I find out he was elected and I'll brush it off after a day or two. A Trump victory for my community is upsetting because my state is Democratic. (according to election coverage) A Trump victory for America is mixed. A lot of states are Republican and Democratic. Some mixed. So the reactions are mixed nationally.

In a speech last night, Mr. Trump stated, “Now it’s time for America to bind the wounds of division,” “It is time for us to come together as one united people. It’s time.”
Do you feel the country will come together as one united people after this divisive election? What can Mr. Trump do to heal the “wounds of division”? What can our government leaders do? What can we do? Honestly to my opinion, this election is a VERY touchy subject. I don't think everyone will come together because they have portrayed Trump as a 'bully', but maybe his supporters can convince people to come together. Trump can possibly heal these "wounds of division" by trying to be supportive and "neutral" to the opposing supporters.

— What has Election 2016 taught you about America? Why? What questions has it raised for you? To my opinion, just something so stupid and meaningless can have a giant affect to the whole nation. I don't care who really wins, as long as they do things right.

- When I heard of the election results I felt a feelings of hope and excitement. I was surprised because all the polls projected a major win Clinton. I Was also excited that Republicans maintain control of the house and the Senate
-I consider my self a Conservative Republican and Trumps victory was a huge win for me and my family, he will fix this country and get rid of all the liberal and social policies that are crushing America. Trump's will have a positive impact on the issues I care about since my views for the most part sees the same way I do.
- The country for the first few days after the election will be divided , but people will eventually unite behind the president. To heal the "wounds of division" Trump could do his hardest to reach out the communities that are divided and convince them. Our government leaders and us can see listen get your act together, trump won fair and square and he will be our next President , we are stronger united , so join trump.
- That America is is divided and the leftist media is twist the rights words and spreading lies to the people. The question that has raised for me is , why is the democrat party destroying this country .

When i heard that trump became the president, i was surprised. This is because Hillary won a lot of polls before his victory was announced. So i thought that Hillary will win. Trump's victory will change so many things in America and other countries. There are many immigrants in America and Trump is making weird policies that are affecting these people. One issue I care about right now is the racism against the immigrants. through out trump's speech, he was saying many racist things toward the non whites and he is planning to make laws that are against them. i don't think the country will come together as one country. so many people have negative feelings toward Trump so it will be very hard for the country to be a whole. this election taught me that Americans have different opinions on so many things. The laws he will make can benefit one person but it can harm the other. this election made me question if America is really a good country and if Trump will actually change something positively

Question1:

When I found out about the results of the election, I was very surprised. I was expecting Hillary Clinton to win considering all the evidence that had been unfolded and revealed on Trump. With all the scandals on Trump, the fact that he never showed his tax records, and the things he has said over the years shocked me when I found out America had elected him to be the new President of the United States.

Question 2:

For me a Trump victory means that he will be able to accomplish things in this country however I do not believe they will be beneficial in any way. Republicans have take the U.S.Senate and House of Representatives which means he will be able to pass bills without having any setbacks. However having a president like Trump, I feel the bills he pass will be not justified and irrational.

Question 3:

I do not believe the country will be able to unite with Trump being president. Many Americans have a very strong opinion on Trump will most likely never unite with him.Trump claimed he would unite this country and keep it strictly for the hard working Americans. The senate and House of Representatives have fallen to Republicans which means they will most likely agree with his ideas. What we can do is in four years decide on another president if Trump does badly during his first term.

Question 4

The election of 2016 has taught me that Americans are very trustworthy people that are also arrogant. They decided on Trump who claimed he was going to deport more than half of the country to create new jobs for Americans. This has gotten me to think what will happen four years in the future in the election of 2020.

After watching the election on national television I assumed Secretary Clinton would some how pull away. Waking up the following day I realized I was wrong as Trump pulled away with almost 65 more electoral votes than Clinton. As a Muslim I have mixed emotions especially after he considered doing the ban. In some aspects a Trump victory might improve the current status of our country,we'll just have to see when he takes office on January 20th. If you were to make a comparison of the two candidates and what they've done wrong in the past Trump is just as worse as his opponent. His aggressive speeches at his rally's spark conflict but in some cases may improve our country. In my opinion I don think our country will unite since Latinos/African Americans do not support some of his moves. One thing I learned as an American citizen is that you should always vote in the primaries because thats where you actually have more choices than just two candidates. Overall these were two worst candidates to ever run for president our country should be ashamed.

I was very suprised. Although I wanted Trump more than HIlary, I was extremely suprised that more people voted for him than Hillary.

A Trump victory wont mean alot to me but I think it will mean alot to my community because I know abotu how there is alot illegals in my neghborhood. Some issues I care about would be common core and from what I have heard Donald Trump does not like the common core so this is good news for me.

I honestly have no clue what hes talking about America wont unite as one I think this election is tearing us apart if anything.

America is silly. How could we let this mean even run as president in the first polace also how is Bernie not there isntead of Hillary.

1. I felt angry because I didn't expect Donald Trump to win and I thought people would vote for Hilary Clinton because Donald Trump saw America differently than others.
2. What a Trump victory means for the community and America is less national order and a divided nation. For individuals it would affect some more than others.
3. The affect a Trump victory will have on issues I care about is it will cause changes to the nation and cause divisions in communities. The economy will change because of Trump and America would be less of a place for opportunities.
4. I think the people will not come together because the country was divided on the type of president they should have and people will still disagree with Trumps views and oppose his decisions.
5. What Trump can do to heal the "wounds of division" is make a better and more informational speech talking about the decisions he will make as president and explain the things he will do to "make America great again".
6. What our government leaders can do is control the power of the president in a more stable way and before Trump makes a decision, they can figure out wha that decision would do to help America.
7. What we can do is accept the changes that are going to happen.
8. What Election 2016 taught me about America is that the people do not pay attention to the negative things a president can say. This is because even though he said negative things, people still elected him.
9. The questions it has raised for me are: What will happen to America?
How will people react throughout the years of Trumps presidency?
How will Trump unite a divided nation?

1) When I first heard the results of the election I believe that my dad was just messing with me when he said Trump won, but when I turned on the TV I was surprised to find out that Trump won for president. I also was angry because I realized that the people of The United States voted for this man, then i wondered, “do people have so much hate towards immigrants that they voted for this man?”
2) Trumps victory to me means the end of America being the land of opportunity because with Trumps immigration plan it will be harder for immigrants to come into the country for a better way of life. This would effect my latino community because Trump would deport the illegal ones.
3) I believe that the nation would not unite into one after the elections because the racism that Trump awoke harmed many people and would continue to do its harm. Trump could unite the nation by saying he is sorry for his accusations towards immigrants.
4) The 2016 elections taught me that America could harm many people and that they are not really united.

I was not that surprised that Donald Trump had won the election. He was ahead of his Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton, by a lot of electoral votes. However, I was surprised that Trump was winning more electoral votes than Clinton. Ever since he announced his decision to run for president in mid-2015, Trump has received a lot of negative reactions due to his comments and insults on various groups of Americans. However, I feel as though America was tired of Clinton. She is the wife of the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton, who served two terms, was Secretary of State, and the U.S. Senator from New York. After constantly appearing in the political world, she has been involved too much and Americans wanted a change.
A Trump victory will bring about many changes in America. Immigration will be limited, due to his many statements on wanting to build a wall for Mexico. However, Trump will deport illegal immigrants and improve the U.S. military.
After this election, I think it will be difficult for America to unite. It seems like half of America wanted Clinton, and the other half wanted Trump, who both have opposite views, therefore making it harder for Americans to “come together”. However, Trump is very persuasive and doesn’t give up easily, which means that he will find a way for Americans to unite.
The election of 2016 has taught me that America is unpredictable. Most people (myself included) believed that Clinton would have won. However, after the recent speculations about how Clinton knew the questions before the presidential debates, this caused Americans to change sides. In addition, Hillary’s email scandal played a big factor in Trump winning the election. After watching the election on television, I wonder how Trump’s presidency will impact citizens.

1. I felt very angry once i had found out about the results of the election. This is because despite all of the things he said about certain races and women, people had still wanted him to president. This made me very angry because people had wanted a president with these traits. The people of America deserve a better president who has better traits and doesn't treat certain groups of people badly. Donald
Trump is very immature and says things and then thinks that everything will become better if he just says "I'm sorry." We don't deserve a president who could make serious mistakes, that could threaten the country, and just say "I'm sorry" and hope everything will be better. This is why i was angry when i found out the results of the election.

2. Trumps victory would have major effects on America. Due to him being a very different person than Obama, there are going to be many changes in how the country is run. Donald Trump would come into office and make a lot of changes. This can either be a good or bad thing for America. It all depends on what changes he makes, and what we think about it. Trumps victory would have a lot of impact on topics that i care about, college. College is my future and it all depends on what Trump does about this issue. Trump hasn't said much about what he is going to do about colleges. But when he does decide what he is going to do, it is going to affect my future in college greatly.

3. I believe that the country will not come together as Trump being president. This is because Trump had wanted to divide us all in the first place. This was shown through his actions of being racist and his beliefs on certain groups of people. In addition, he had wanted to make a wall to separate all of us. If he wanted to separate us that will not bring us together to heal "wounds of division." Government leaders can push for more quality rights for different races and for genders. Furthermore, we can start treating each other with more respect and not look at each other based on what we look like. Trump will have no way on helping us treat each other equally if he carries out with his plans to further separate us.

4. This election taught me that America still doesn't have faith in woman. In addition, it shows that America isn't ready for a woman president, if we aren't ready now when will we ever be ready. It also showed me that America doesn't care about what the president's actions.
