a. The importance of Coal to the Industrial Revolution was that it is a source of fuel that has given us heat and power. Also, it drove economic expansion. It is also belived that the industrial revolution couldn't have existed without coal. was that there was concentrated labor, and production. There was also a concentrated source of energy which was coal. When there wasn't coal there was water power. This meant limited size and speed with a small labor force. Also, it meant that they needed factories outside of cities by rivers, etc. When they changed to coal it meant that there were possibilities to new masses of labor in cities.
b. The impact of Coal on America was that it lead to urbanization and social change. It lead to new inventions like the steam engine. Cities were dirty from smoke but America was the leader in coal providers. It brought 70% of the nations energy. Women started protesting coal. They were sucessful in reducing the amount of smoke. The coal was affecting the environment and that time period is what we started basing our environmental issues on. There is a possibility for even more issues to come because of the new coal plants still being put in place.

Through greater transportation, use of natural resource coal and oil worked there way to being some of the most successful business in the country.
