1. he might have been labeled this because he was the first president to veto most of the bills that got to him and he didnt really listen to the people, just like aking or a dictator wouldnt listern to their countires people. he also vetoed the bank bill, so he was accused of accusing presidential powers.

2. jacksons holding a veto in his hand because i assume that thats the bank bill that he vetoed that made people mad and made them call him a tyrant.

3. i think hes stepping in the constitution because be was thought of as a tyrant, n ot following laws of the constitution, or the constitution at all.

4. i dont think this cartoon depicted jackson well because although he vetoed many bills, he never abused his powers by getting rid of the constitution, or forcing his people to do things like a king maight do.

5. information that would support the cartoonist's views would be the fact that jacksom vetoed the bank bill which made people view him as a tyrant, and also by passing the indian removal act, and forcing the indians to leave their lands.

1. The cartoonist labeled him that because he was, in some people;s perspective, more like a king then a president. A president is supposed to represent what the people want, but Jackson didn't always do that.

2. Jackson is holding a veto because he had veto's MANY bills. In total, i believe 11 and all of the presidents before him combined had only vetoed 9.

3. Jackson is stepping on the constitution. By this the cartoonist is trying to show that Jackson didnt care about the people or their rights. OR following the rules in the constitution.

4. I used to think this was accurate, but now im not really sure. Jackson didn't always represent what the people wanted. Sometimes he didnt go what the Supreme Court said. Then again, Jackson only did what he did FOR the people. He was trying to make all states equal which is why, for example, he was against internal improvements. So im kind of not sure.

5. Jackson vetoed the bank bill, went against the supreme court, and passed the Indian Removal Act, and that would prove the cartoonists right. He also was for equal state rights, supported equality between classes, and represented the "self-made" man, which did NOT prove the cartoonists point.

1. This cartoonist labeled Andrew Jackson a King because he was the first president to take actions like a king after the American Revolution. He made things happen as he wanted instead of what the people wanted.

2. He's holding a veto bill because he is known for vetoing many bills. So he's still holding a veto bill even though he is taking a picture as a king.

3. He is stepping on the constitution because he basically defies the constitution most of the time.

4. This cartoon is biased and wrong because Jackson did things his way to benefit the people most of the time. He might have troubled the Indians when he removed them but he still made Americans happy and satisfied.

5. The true things about the cartoon is that he did veto many bills that was sought as a splinter to him. But still, he didn't disrespect the constitution. Him stepping on the constitution is wrong because that is really a bad picture of him although he never went that far.

1. he was really in some peoples eyes acting more like a king than a president and he didnt really care much about siding with the constitution. he did what he wanted.

2. he is holding a veto because he vetoed several bills

3. he cared little for following the constitution. he went along to his own rules. he sort of made them up as he went along.

4. i do not believe this picture to be an accurate picture of jackson because this picture only portrays the ngative things, not everything about him was bad as this picture portrays.

5. well we see that he vetoed,(several bills) acted as a king and cared little to follow the constitution (the indian removal act).

1. What reasons might explain why Jackson has been labeled "King Andrew the First?"

ANDREW JACKSON MAY HAVE BEEN LABELED KING ANDREW BECAUSE AT SOME POINTS HE ACTED MORE LIKE A KING THEN A PRESIDENT. PRESIDENTS ARE SUPPOSED ALWAYS DO WHAT IS BEST FOR THE PEOPLE, AND THEIR COUNTRY, BUT JACKSON DID NOT ALWAYS DO THIS.

2. Why is Jackson holding a veto in his hand?

JACKSON VETOED BILLS MORE THEN ANY OTHER PRESIDENT BEFORE HIM. THE 9 PRESIDENTS BEFORE HIS VETOED ONLY 6 BILLS IN TOTAL, BUT HE VETOED 11.

3. Why do you think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution?

THE CARTOONIST WAS TRYING TO SHOW THAT JACKSON WAS "STEPPING" ON THEIR VALUES, RIGHTS, AND REGULATIONS. IT SHOWED HE DIDN'T CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE.

4. Do you think this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson?

SOMETIMES I THINK THAT JACKSON WAS MORE LIKE A KING, BUT OTHERS I THINK HE WAS MORE LIKE A PRESIDENT. HE DID TRY TO HELP THE PEOPLE, BUT SOMETIMES HE DID IT IN WAYS THAT WERE NOT THE BEST FOR THEM.

5. Based on what we've discussed so far, what information would support the cartoonist's views? Which information opposes the cartoonist's view?

LIKE I PREVIOUSLY WROTE, THE FACT THAT JACKSON VETOED MORE BILLS THEN ANY PRESIDENT EVER BEFORE SUPPORTED THE PICTURE. JACKSON BEING A "SELF-MADE" MAN, HOWEVER, OPPOSED THE CARTOONISTS VIEWS.

Hey Mr. Tesler... we were sortta wondering if Opal and I could do this HW together... I am at Opal's house right now and we are doing the homework together. Pleaseee ! Comment us back but, now, we are doing it together.

1. What reasons might explain why Jackson has been labeled "King Andrew the First?"
First of all, Andrew Jackson chooses to side with only certain Americans and not all. He only cared about they wanted and normally those people have the same opinions as him. Also, some laws passed by him were unconstitutional such as the Indian Removal act.

2. Why is Jackson holding a veto in his hand?
In Jackson's eight years as a president, he had passed 12 vetoes. Few of the most famous vetoes was the forclosure of the second bank. Perhaps he was holding a bill is because he is commonly known as the president that vetoed the most.

3. Why do you think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution?
Most of Jackson's laws/acts made weren't constitutional, such as [again] the Indian Removal Act. HE often would disobey the constitution during his presidency.

4. Do you think this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson?
I believe that this picture is accurate and also not accurate depending on where you lived at that time. He favored the common man because he was one. So, from their view of things, this was NOT the right picture but the higher class would probably agree with this picture.

5. Based on what we've discussed so far, what information would support the cartoonist's views? Which information opposes the cartoonist's view?
From this cartoon, it shows that Andrew Jackson was acting much of a king than a president. Also, it shows that during his presidency he had vetoed many bills and him messing up the constitution meant that some of his choices, he ignored the constitution. IT shows that the cartoonist felt this way to the Jackson and was unhappy of what Jackson did. But, this didn't portray the other Americans that were happy Andrew Jackson became president.

HOPE YOU ALLOW US TO DO THIS HOMEWORK TOGETHER. WE PLANNED WHAT TO SAY BEFORE WE WRITE IT DOWN ON THE BLOG. TEAMWORK!

1. What reasons might explain why Jackson has been labeled "King Andrew the First?"

- Andrew Jackson was the first president to take actions as if he were a king after the American Revolution. Jackson made things happen as HE wished for them to happen, instead of how the PEOPLE wished for them to happen. In other words, he didn't really represent the people & their wants.

2. Why is Jackson holding a veto in his hand?

- Jackson was known for vetoing several bills.

3. Why do you think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution?

- I predcit that the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the constitution because Jackson did not care about the wants of the people, or the peoples rights.

4. Do you think this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson?

- I agree with Min. I don't think this cartoon is an accurate picture of Jackson because most of the time, Jackson was beneficial to Americans. Even though he completed tasks HIS way, Americans were still satisfied with him.

5.Based on what we've discussed so far, what information would support the cartoonist's views? Which information opposes the cartoonist's view?

- Supporting : Jackson did veto the bank bill, pass the Indian Removal Act, and lastly go against the supreme court.

Against : Jackson supported equality between classes, and DID NOT disrespect the constitution.

1. What reasons might explain why Jackson has been labeled "King Andrew the First?"

Jackson was labeled as "King Andrew the First" because his rivals blamed him for acting more like a king. He did things his way, instead of listening to what the people wanted.

2. Why is Jackson holding a veto in his hand?

Jackson is holding a veto in his hand because he vetoed many bills. He had vetoed more bills than other presidents.

3. Why do you think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution?

According to the cartoonist, Jackson is stepping on the Constitution because he acted like a dictator, so he violated the Constitution.

4. Do you think this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson?

He did do some negative things, but he also did things that were for the people, since he was one before.

5. Based on what we've discussed so far, what information would support the cartoonist's views? Which information opposes the cartoonist's view?

He vetoed many bills and forced Indians off their lands because settlers wanted more land. But, he gave opportunities to the common people, which opposes the cartoonist's view.

1. He might have been labeled King Andrew because as president, he vetoed 11 bills that were put in front of him. He also was like a King, because he sought out what was benificial to certain groups of people [the working man] even when he was called "the man of the people." If he was really a man of the people, he would do what was best for every citizen.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hands, because it represents that Jackson vetoed may bills that didn't correlate with what he wanted.

3. Jackson is steppingon the Constitution, because he ignored Acts that didn't seem suitable for what he was doing. He also violated many treaties, for example, the Treaties with the Native Americans, which led to the Indian Removal Act and the Trail of Tears.

4. The cartoon was in the middle. Some ideas were correct, such as the way he vetoed many bills, and sometimes stepped all over the Constitution, but it wasn't to the point where they should call him a King.

5. Jackson's vetoing of many bills and ignoring the Native American/U.S. treaties would prove the cartoonist's point. Jackson also supported state rights, class and represented the "self-made" man-facts which the cartoonist did not prove.

1. one reason that he might have been labeled that because he took actions and made decisions like he was the king of the US. He vetoed 11 bills in total which was the most bills any president vetoed ever, and he also vetoed the bank bill. andrew jackson was even sometimes accused of abusing his presidential powers.

2. andrew jackson is holding a veto in his hand because he vetoed a lot of bills when he was president, 11 in total, which was the max number of bills any president vetoed.

3. i think the cartoonist made jackson stepping on the constitution because jackson passed unconstitutinal laws, like the indian removal act even though he was "for the people" but that act just pushed the indians out of their home. the cartoonist wanted to show that he didnt really care about the people and violated the constitution rights.

4. to me, andrew jackson did rule like a king rather than a president but i think he did try to be for the people and based his decisions for the benefit of the people.

5. jackson vetoed 11 bills, vetoed the bank bill, went against the supreme court, acted like a king and passed the indian removal act which supports the cartoon. but he also supported states rights, represented the self made man, and believed in equal class which proves the cartoon wrong.

1. Jackson may have been labeled "King Andrew the First" because he didn't listen to other peoples idea or opinions. He wanted his way all of the time.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in the cartoon because of how many bills he vetoed.

3. The cartoonist drew Jackson stepping on the Constitution because he acted as if the Constitution was worthless and didn't matter. He did whatever he wanted and like Donna said, he became almost like a dictator, which is exactly what our coutry is supposed to keep away from.

4. I think this cartoon is an accurate view of Jackson because some of his actions were unconstitutional.

5. What Jackson did by vetoing the bank bill and also by passing the Indian Removal Act supports this cartoon. His upbringing and the fact that he was a "self made" man opposes the cartoon.

1. Jackson was labeled "King Andrew the First", maybe because he was acting more like a king, and commanding everyone and not listening then being more of a president who does the opposite.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hand because he was known for vetoing many bills.

3. I think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution because he didnt really care about the people and he ignored any act that he thought wasn't "what he was looking for".

4. I don't really think that this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson, because although he vetoed bills, and ignored acts, he never really took advantage of his powers and at times he wouldn't listen to what the Supreme Court said, but he also tried to do what was right for the people.

5. Information that supported the cartoonist's view is that he did veto bills, and ignored the constitution like passing the indian removal act, and acting like a king. But then again he didn't disrespect the constitution, he was for the equal state rights, and people were happy that he became president, so tat opposes the cartoonist's view.

3.I think the cartoonist portrayed that because he was known or thought of as a tyrant, and he didnt care about the rules in the constitution in that matter.

4.I dont think this is a good picture of Jackson. Although he seemed like a king, he never abused his powers.

5.Jackson vetoed more bills than any other president. It opposed the cartoonists views because Jackson was a "self made man"

1) the cartoonist labeled andrew jackson as a king because of his attitude. He acted more like a king by barking orders and doing everything his way, regardless if it was good for the people or not. He also vetoed more laws than the other presidents combined.

2) as I said before, he vetoed more laws than all of the others combined, which is why he is holding a veto.

3) the cartoonist made Jackson step on the Constitution because he was known for being unconstitutional. He doesn't follow what it says and does things his own way.

4) I don't think that this cartoon is completely- 100% accurate. Jackson stuck to what he wanted to do, and it didn't always have to do with the people. It only shows the negative things about Jackson, and none of the positive. It's really biased.

5) From this cartoon, you can conclude that the Cartoonist viewed him as an unjust "King", who didn't care about what the people had to say in decision making.

1. What reasons might explain why Jackson has been labeled "King Andrew the First?"
Jackson might have been named "King Andrew the First" because people said that he acted like a king. Jackson ignored the Supreme Courts ruling and did whatever he wanted and ignored the people.
2. Why is Jackson holding a veto in his hand?
Jackson could be holding a veto bill becasue he often vetoes bills and went against the supreme court.
3. Why do you think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution?
I think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the constiturion because the way he acted was unconstitutional. He ignored what the people wanted, he put people in office who would side with him, and more that were all unconstitutional.
4. Do you think this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson?
I do think this is an accurate picture of Jackson. He acted like a king and didn't follow the constitution.
5. Based on what we've discussed so far, what information would support the cartoonist's views? Which information opposes the cartoonist's view?
The information that supports the cartoonists views are that people didn't really like Jackson. he went against what they and the supreme court wanted. He went with whatever he thought was right and he appointed whoever would support him into office. All of these things go with what the cartoon shows. What doesn't support the cartoon is that Jackson believed in equal rights for all states which was a benefit to the people.

1. Jackson might have been labeled this because he vetoed most bills that came he way and he didnt listen to many people. In the Jacksonian age it was more of a dictatorship than a presidency.

2. I think Jackson's holding a veto in his hand because he vetoed many bills and it just shows that he wants power.

3. I think hes stepping in the constitution to show that he is the constitution and because he wants all the power

4. I think this depicted Jackson well because he vetoed so many bills and although he tried to be the "common man" he didn't show to much intelligence of the "common man".

5. Information that would support the cartoonist views would be thay jackson vetoed the bank bill and that made him look like a tyrant.

HEY!!

1. Some reasons that might explain why Jackson was labeled as a King was because of the way he ran the country. From his passing of many vetos, to his acts he was definitly portrayed that way. I think he also embrassed it.

2. Jackson is holding the veto to represent that he has the power in his hands and he is not giving it up.

3. The constitution is being stepped on to show that Jackson is trying to over take and overule what the government setup already.

4.This picture is a propaganda poster so I can not really tell if this is an accurate portrail.

5. The information that supports the cartoonists P.O.V. is that he used vetos to take down the Second Bank of America as well as trying to use his law skills to ammend the constitution to his benifit.

Here's the Homework

1. Jackson might have labeled this because he was the first of the presidents to veto a lot of his bills. Many thought of him as a dictictor because he was able to push any law through congress.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hand becuse he was known for having vetos passed down, but people still accused him of a king.

3. Jackson in the cartoon is stepping on the consitution, basically it stands for that he didnt really careed for the people. Jackson kind of broke the constitution up because he gained too much power. In our constitution it was for everyone to have an equal amount of power, but Jackson gained a lot more.

4. Although in the cartoon Jackson is viewed as a King, he did not really act like a king. Yes he did veto many of his bills, but it brought good advantages to the country.

5. Jackson vetoed the bank bill, went against the supreme court and passed on the indian removal act, this can somewhat prove the caartoonist's accuracy about Jackson.

1. He might have been labeled King Andrew the first because, he acted more like a king than a president in the sense he didn't really care what all of the people thought he only did what he thought was right.

2. I think he is holding a veto in his hand because as president, Jackson vetoed a lot of bills. All of the former presidents vetoed a total of 9 bills and he alone vetoed 11. I think this one veto represents all of the ones he made during his presidency.

3. I think it shows him stepping on the constitution because he went a gainst some of the things in the constitution and went against a lot of the supreme courts decisions.

4. I don't think this picture is very accurate because, even thought the information portrayed in this is accurate, it is very biased and there is more to Jackson's presidency than him just acting like a king. He wasn't COMPLETELY horrible.

5. Something that would support the cartoonist views is when Andrew Jackson used the Force Bill to enforce the Tariffs. He knew how the Sout felt about the tariff and how it affected them in a negative way, but he insisted doing things his way anyway. Something that would oppose the cartoonist's views is he supported the middle and lower class' views because he grew up in a poor family and he went on to be successful.

1. One reason that he might of been labeled that is because he was a president that veto a lot of bill that came his way, and he was the first president that acted like a king.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hand because that is what he mostly did when he was president.

3. He is stepping on the constitution because he was thought as a tyrant. And as Min said, he didn't follow the rules and did what ever he wanted.

4. I believe that this is not an accurate "picture" because though he did veto a lot of bills, he did do some good things.

5. Information that would support the cartoonist's point of view is the vetoing of bills. Information that would not support the cartoonist view would be him stepping on the constitution.

1. King Andrew has been labeled as "King Andrew the First" because he acted like a dictator, by ignoring other government officials and the people of the United States. Jackson acted however he wished to act, believing that he was always right, which is why he was labeled as "King".

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hand because during his 2 terms as president, he vetoed 11 bills.

3. I think that the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution because he intended to show that Jackson ignored many laws of the Constitution, while using it to fight for what he wanted in other situations. It also shows that Jackson violated many laws and treaties that were created by the creators and framers of the Constitution,

4. I think that this cartoon is an accurate "picture" of Jackson, because it portrays Jackson during his two terms of presidency very well. Jackson did, in fact, go against the Constitution and federal laws many times, and he did what he thought was best, instead of listening to the opinions of others.

5. Jackson violated many laws and treaties, which is why the cartoonist is supported when he portrayed Jackson stepping on the Constitution. The cartoonist is somewhat opposed, though, when he portrays Jackson as a King because Jackson was a supporter of the "Common man", while most Kings support mostly the Upper Class.

1. Some reasons why Jackson might have been labeled "King Andrew the first" was because the people felt he ruled as if he were a king. Also, he vetoed most of the bills that got to him. He really didn't listen to what the poeple said, and what they wanted, he only did what he wanted. Therefore people said he acted like a king.

2. Jackson is holding a veto in his hand because he vetoed a lot of bills. Which got the people mad.

3. I think the cartoonist portrayed Jackson stepping on the constitution because a lot of the poeple felt he went against the constitution. The cartoonist is trying to show that Jackson didn't care about the poeples rights, or what they had to say.

4. I do not think this cartoon is accurate. The reason being is because I think that he was unfair at some parts, but i think comparing him to a king is a little much. I think that he did benefit the people in some ways, but he definietly could have done more.

5. Information that would support the cartoonist's views would be that Jackson vetoed many bills, which made the people very unhappy. Another thing would be the indian removal act. Information that would go against the cartoonist is that he supported equality between classes.
